Visit our Com-Ed Page here for for details and how to register! One of the projects the division does twice per year is to sponsor community education classes at the city’s Com-Ed program. Registered students receive a 12″ X 24″ T-Trak module for ‘N’ gauge size trains. All of the supplies needed to build their own module are supplied by the DSED division. They build their own module during the 4-week, one night per week course restricted only by their own imagination. This class is held twice per year. DSED at Trains at Christmas Nov 2023 – Sioux Falls, SD

The Dakota Southeastern Division, DSED, model railroad club participated in the Sioux Valley Model Engineers Society, SVMES, model railroad club, annual Trains at Christmas train show in November 2023. Eric Carlson, a DSED member, hosts a YouTube channel, Black Hills and Eastern, recorded some of the layouts, displays and interviewed a number of guests at Trains at Christmas. Come and join the Dakota Southeastern Division, DSED, model railroad club at the Sioux Falls, SD downtown library on Saturday and Sunday, January 28-29, 2023. Saturday hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sundary hours are 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The library is located at 8th Street and Dakota Ave. The DSED will have our HO and N scale layouts operating along with 2 switching layouts for kids to operate. It is a great family event and is FREE to the public. We hope to see you there.

Join the Dakota Southeastern Division, DSED, model railroad club, at the Active Generations North Pole Carnival this Saturday, December 10, 2022, from 10:00am to 1:00pm. This is a free event open to the public. The Active Generations is located at 2300 W 46th St, Sioux Falls, SD. There will be lots of activities for children and of course the DSED model railroads running with a Christmas theme. Be sure to join the Dakota Southeastern Division, DSED, model railroad club, at Trains at Christmas this Saturday and Sunday, November 19-20, at the Expo Building on the fairgrounds in Sioux Falls, SD. The DSED will have trains running on a large, 32’x28′ ‘P’ shaped HO scale layout and a 24’x15′ ‘L’ shaped N scale T-Trak layout. In addition, there will be 2 switching layouts for kids to operate and a large selection of previously owned model trains and accessories for sale. The Dakota Southeastern Division, DSED, is hosting an open house tour of model railroads in the Greater Sioux Falls, SD area. Seven locations are on the tour ranging from full basement to small area layouts. The open house proceeds support The Compass Center, an organization that supports victims of domestic and sexual abuse. COMMUNITY EDUCATION – BUILD A MODULE

Dakota Southeastern Division, DSED, members will be leading a community education class through the Sioux Falls, SD public school system on building a 2′ N-scale T-Trak module. Class participants will add track, wiring and scenery materials to a module which is theirs to keep at the end of the class. Classes are held on the last four Tuesdays in November 2022. In addition, there is an option for an advanced class that goes deeper into building a model railroad. These classes will be the first two Tuesdays in December 2022. The Dakota Southeastern Division, DSED, model railroad club, is holding an open house tour of select Greater Sioux Falls, SD area model railroads. The open house includes seven locations scheduled to participate which provides a great opportunity to see different scales of model railroads and some unique operating schemes while supporting a great cause. The open house proceeds will benefit The Compass Center which provides free services for survivors of domestic/dating, sexual assault, human trafficking and other events. Model Railroad T-Trak Classes

DSED members are offering a Sioux Falls Community Education 4-week class beginning Thursday, April 14, 2022, on building model railroad modules for T-Trak. The modules are specific to N-scale T-Trak, however, the methods can be used on any scale of model trains. During the class, participants will learn about track laying, electrical and scenery options. Every module is different as each participant uses their own imagination while adding scenery to their modules.
