The DSED will be at the Watertown, SD mall on October 18-19, 2025. We will have all or our layouts on display for this fun event. Come and see some great HO and N-scale trains running. Earn an engineers certificate on one of our switching layouts. A free event and a great family experience.

The DSED is holding a community education class on model railroading starting October 30, 2025. The session is a 4-week class held on Thursday evenings from 6-8pm. During the sessions, registrants will learn the basics of model railroading by adding scenery to a 1'x2' module. This is a hands-on class where your imagination can run free to design a look that is unique to each individual. The DSED model railroad club will be at Trains at Christmas train show at the Expo Building at the W H Lyon Fairgrounds on Saturday and Sunday, November 22-23, 2025. Come and check out all of our layouts, including our award-winning HO layout, N scale T-Trak layout and two switching layouts for kids to earn an engineer's certificate by running a train. We will also have some used model trains and accessories for sale during the train show. Cost is $7 per adult, children 12 and under are free with a paid adult.
